What is Algae?

Algae are organisms that look like plants and vegetables. They are living in water medium, like sea, river, lake and pond or on wet surfaces, well wall, drainage walls etc. Like plant, algae prepare their food using the sun. Based on their size, they are two types such as macroalgae and microalgae.

Structure of Alage

  The body of the algae (macroalgae) is known as the thallus. The thallus has root like structure, as in plants called “the holdfast”, the leafs are called the blade and the collection of blades called ‘frond’. The stem is known as the stipe.
