Vol.4 : June 2006

Dear Readers

Contents

Like in the past, Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre collects, collates and effectively disseminates information on microorganisms and their active role in the environmental management and clean-up activities to the larger user community via electronic media as well as publishing newsletters. As part of these efforts, in this newsletter, we provide information on microbial research activities in relation to environment management. Those documents include research articles, published reports, abstracts, references, e-resources, forthcoming conferences, seminars and symposia. All information resources related to the chosen theme are regularly uploaded into the Centre's web-site. We are deepening our understanding of various environmental issues arising day by day. In order to create awareness and promote public involvement in sustainable development and environmental management, the ENVIS Centre has also successfully launched a separate web-site (www.envismicrobes.org) in vernacular language (Tamil).

We request you to send us your suggestions and comments for the development of eco-friendly and healthy environment. This will also help us to server you better.
