Dr. Schatz was also interested in the paranormal and alternative medicine (therapeutic touch). He campaigned against the fluoridation of drinking water, argued for a "proteolysis-chelation theory" of tooth decay and proposed a novel theory for the cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Dr. Schatz best known as the discoverer of the antibiotic, streptomycin. Albert Schatz was honored with Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology in the year 1952 together with E. Bugie and Selman Waksman for the discovery of streptomycin, soon to be used against tuberculosis.
