Abstract

The occurrence of Pellicularia koleroga cooke which causes the black rot of coffee has been reported from almost all the tropical countries of the world. In south India the disease is severe only in those areas coming under the influence of heavy south west Monsoon rains from june-september. Humidity is the most important single factor which determines the presence of the fungus in any area. Young shoot leaves and barrier are infected by the fungus. Pure culture of the fungi were isolated from leaves of a few plants showing basidiospores. s
