Remarks: Fungal culture collection is maintained by ‘Medial mycology’ of Vallabhbhai Patil Chest Institute (VPCI), University of Delhi, Delhi. The unit functioned as a part of the Bacteriology Department (subsequently re-designated as Microbiology) headed by Lt. Col. A.J.H.deMonte. Subsequently a full fledged Department of Medical Mycology was established in 1959. Over the years, the Department has emerged as a leading centre of research and teaching in pulmonary diseases caused by fungi and actinomycetes.
